The Crisis Center is seeking a Development Intern to join its Communications & Development Department. The Development Intern is responsible for supporting the Communications & Development’s administrative efforts by assisting with the planning and execution of fundraising and social events (including assistance at the events); assisting the Development Coordinator in execution of donor stewardship plans – including event follow up, coordinating tours, thank you notes and calls, and a variety of other activities; soliciting in-kind donations; assisting with the promotion of upcoming events; generating ideas; conducting interviews and writing copy for internal and external donor stewardship newsletters, event collateral, etc. and managing organizational records.
The Intern shall have a basic understanding of fundraising best practices and ethics; the ability to learn a complex database system; and excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills. The Intern must possess a high degree of self-motivation and be passionate about the programs and services of The Crisis Center. This position will work as part of the Communications & Development and administrative teams and report to the Development Coordinator. This is an unpaid internship with a flexible 10-15 hour/week schedule.
Internship meets requirements for the Fundraising and Philanthropy Communication Certificate.
Desired Education and Experience:
Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution, working on a bachelors or graduate degree, and display a commitment to nonprofit development and social services. Experience in event planning, writing, donor stewardship, or volunteer work preferred but not required.
