Here are a few frequently asked questions.
What happens if I don’t receive a meal?
About 18% of guests will not receive a meal. Last year, however, many guests who did receive a meal shared it with their neighbors. No matter what you are served, we ask you to reflect on what it might feel like to actually go to bed at night without a meal.
What happens after dinner?
After dinner is served, we’re excited to share a video featuring actual community members who turned to The Crisis Center during their time of need. Then staff, volunteers, and special guests will share information about The Crisis Center’s impact and how you can get involved.
Where will I sit?
Please indicate who you would like to be seated near in your registration information and we will seat you accordingly. If you have no preference, we will be happy to seat you at a table hosted by a Crisis Center staff or board member.
Where will the proceeds go?
All proceeds from the Hunger Banquet will go to The Crisis Center’s food bank, which supports Johnson County residents with the supplemental groceries they need to meet their families’ needs.
Last year, because of private donations from both community members and our sponsors, the Hunger Banquet raised more than $50,000 for the food bank—enough to keep the food bank running for about 15 weeks.
